Jana Lynn Bussell Fox, 67, of Finley, Washington, passed away peacefully at her home on August 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband, Mark, and son, Austin.

Jana was born on December 26, 1957, in Shelby, Montana, to Richard and Shirlie Bussell. As a young girl, she moved with her parents to Kennewick, Washington, where she would spend the rest of her life. She attended school in Finley and graduated from River View High School in 1977. During her high school years, Jana was active in sports and competed in play days and junior rodeos, where she took on events such as barrel racing, cow daubing, and even steer and bull riding.

Throughout her life, Jana worked in a variety of roles that reflected her strong work ethic and kind spirit. She cleaned homes, helped her mother at Shirlie’s Old Fashion Bakery and Deli, and catered weddings, reunions, and CBC nurse graduations. She also made many cherished friendships during her time at RAD Cab.

It was while working at the family bakery that Jana met the love of her life, Mark Fox. They were married for 31 years and together raised their beloved son, Austin.

Jana found great joy in her garden, especially tending to her strawberries and raspberries. She was most in her element during the holidays, when she poured her love into making cookie trays, pies, and jellies—often using the berries she had grown herself. While her mother Shirlie was known for her maple bars and cinnamon rolls, Jana became famous in her own right for her homemade pies, cookies, and preserves.

Jana was preceded in death by her grandparents, father Richard Bussell, mother Shirlie Bussell, father-in-law Kenneth Fox, mother-in-law Ellen Jean Fox, and uncle Doug Bussell.

She is survived by her husband Mark Fox, son Austin Fox, brothers Doug (Shawna) and Mike (Julie), aunt Ruby Bussell, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.

A celebration of Jana’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Finley Community Church, located at 201512 E. Finley Rd., Kennewick, WA. A reception will follow.

Jana will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, strong spirit, sense of humor, and the love she shared so freely with her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, homegrown sweetness, and cherished memories.
