Obituary

Joan Cooper, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, in Richland, Washington. Born on November 19, 1949, in Yakima, Washington, Joan was the daughter of Chester and Willa Heitschmidt and was raised with love in a close-knit family.

Joan is preceded in death by her loving husband, Don Cooper; her dear brother, Jon Heitschmidt; and her devoted parents. She is survived by her brother Dan Heitschmidt, alongside numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will carry her spirit forward in their hearts.

Joan had a brief but fulfilling career at Siemens before she dedicated her life to being a housewife, a role she cherished deeply. Known for her kindness, generosity, and great sense of humor, she always had a delightful joke to share, often reminding her loved ones to find joy in the little things. Her creative spirit flourished through her passions for painting, crafting, and crocheting. She also loved to travel and camp, enjoying the beauty of nature. Whether it was long morning walks down the dirt roads or everyone gathering to head down to the red apple, it was always a good time.

A memorial service honoring Joan's life will be held at Sunset Gardens, located at 915 By Pass Hwy, Richland, WA 99352, starting at 11:00 AM on May 3rd, 2025 . All who knew and loved Joan are invited to celebrate her warm spirit and the joy she brought into their lives.

In this time of loss, may we remember Joan not only for her kindness and humor but also for the love she consistently shared with everyone around her.
