Obituary

Richard Lee Hoadley

September 1, 1965 – April 12, 2025

Richard Lee Hoadley passed away at home surrounded by family on April 12, 2025, at the age of 59.

Born in Vermont and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Rick learned from an early age to protect and care for his family. During elementary school, he once had to take on responsibility for bringing home groceries. Never one to back down from a challenge, he once pushed a loaded shopping cart home during an especially snowy Michigan winter, plowing through deep snow as he did.

Growing up, he mowed lawns, worked a paper route, and helped his community with many other small jobs. At sixteen, he went to trade school for welding, which he turned into a career that spanned decades. He spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He loved music and had a particular talent for singing and dancing — talents he was always happy to share with others.

He later moved to Washington, where he met and married his wife of fourteen years, Stacy. The two built a life together that spanned many moments both challenging and joyful — including the purchase of their home in Ritzville, Washington. He always had a knack for filling their home with the perfect gifts, and he loved to surprise his wife by writing love notes for her to find.

Rick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Stacy Hoadley; his daughter, Amber Spring Godfrey; and his grandson, Gavyn Godfrey. He also leaves behind his siblings — Robert (Theresa) Hoadley, Ellen (Dennis) Gonyaw, and Anita (Patrick) Walker — as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who cared for him deeply, including stepchildren and step grandchildren whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Hoadley, and his father, Ernest Hoadley.

Rick will be remembered as someone who lived life to the fullest, cared for his family, and brought humor and excitement to everyone around him. He will be missed.
