Richard Matthews, 76, passed away on July 17, 2026, in Pasco, Washington.

Richard is survived by his beloved spouse of 49 years, Beverly Matthews of Richland, WA. He is also survived by his seven children: Rachael Blackketter of Sahuarita, AZ; Michaelle Cearley of Kennewick, WA; Tamara McAninch of Sinks Grove, WV; Christian Courtney of Mount Shasta, CA; Jesseca Matthews of Mica, Washington; Matt Matthews of Richland, WA; Richard Matthews Jr. of Richland, WA; and his 15 grandchildren. His brother Bill Matthews and his sister Donna Brown also survive him. Richard is preceded in death by his father William Matthews and his mother Irene Clayton Matthews

Rick loved God, his wife and his family. He worked as a welder, contractor and later as a planner at Hanford. He will be remembered by his friends and loved ones as a dreamer. Many also knew Rick for his love of BBQ. He was often found at his homemade pit smoking meat for church fundraisers, non-profits or his family.
